The leadership of Stanbic Bank Ghana has paid a condolence visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following the death of the Queenmother of the Ashanti Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
A delegation led by the bank’s Board Chair, Esi Tawia Addo-Ashong, and including Chief Executive Kwamina Asomaning and Head of Brand and Marketing Mawuko Afadzinu, called at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Tuesday.
The group presented a donation to support preparations for the one-week observance of the late Queenmother, who died on 11 August.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the 14th Asantehemaa, was regarded as a custodian of Ashanti tradition and culture, and was noted for her philanthropic work and her close advisory role to the Asantehene.
Her death has plunged the Ashanti Kingdom into mourning. Traditional leaders, political figures and citizens have been visiting the palace to pay their respects. Large crowds are expected in Kumasi for the one-week rites.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II thanked the bank’s delegation for their solidarity and support at what he described as a time of deep grief for the Ashanti people.
