Executive Chairman of the Africa Prosperity Network, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has expressed disappointment over what he described as limited financial and sponsorship support from Ghanaian companies for the Africa Prosperity Dialogues.
He said while international partners and development finance institutions backed the event, many local firms were reluctant to invest despite benefiting directly from increased exposure and continental trade opportunities.
“It is not easy convincing Ghanaian companies to put money into a venture like this,” he said on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (10 February). “That I find quite disappointing.”
Otchere-Darko argued that hosting APD in Ghana effectively markets the country as an investment destination and provides domestic firms with access to African and global partners.
“What we’re doing is marketing Ghana first and foremost,” he said. “More Ghanaian companies should recognise that this platform helps them leverage opportunities.”
He confirmed that the board is considering rotating future editions of APD to other African countries if stronger local backing does not materialise.
“If another country will be more supportive, why not?” he asked.
