GRIDCo: No plans of introducing nationwide load shedding

GRIDCo says the recent power outages in parts of the country is due to ongoing projects to enhance power supply reliability

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has reassured the general public that it has no plans of embarking on a nationwide load shedding programme.

The assurance is coming on the back of recent intermittent power outages across the country.

“GRIDCo wishes to assure the general public that it has no intention of embarking on a nationwide load shedding programme,” GRIDCo said in a statement.

Enhancing power supply

According to GRIDCo, it is currently carrying out key projects to enhance power supply reliability in the Greater Accra Region.

These projects are the Millennium Development Authority (MIDA) funded Pokuase substation and Kasoa Bulk Supply Point installations as well as the French Development Agency (AFD) funded Tema – Accra transmission line reinforcement project.

GRIDCo said it is also working with the Electricity Company of Ghana, MiDA and other stakeholders to ensure minimum impact on customers in the affected areas.
