
A one-week-old baby and three others have been severely injured after fire engulfed portions of the Korle-Bu police barracks Wednesday evening.
Eyewitnesses told Asaase News that the four were fast asleep around 11pm when the structure housing them caught fire.
Residents looked on helpless as the blaze intensified before firefighters came to their rescue.
An eyewitness, who is a police officer and a resident of the affected building told Asaase News that but for the timely intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service, more damage would have been caused.

The lead fire officer at the scene Odame Gregory told Asaase Radio’s Philip Abutiate in an interview that the victims have been rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
