The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of a man identified as Bukari Yakubu after 92 slabs of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp were discovered at his residence in Akatsi, in the Volta Region.
The arrest, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, 10 May 2025, followed an intelligence-led operation by the Ghana Police Service. Officers reportedly placed Yakubu under surveillance before raiding his residence around 1am.
A police statement confirmed that a search of the premises led to the discovery of 92 compressed slabs of the substance, which were wrapped in yellowish material. Two Royal motorbikes, suspected to be stolen property, were also seized.
Yakubu, who has been identified as a suspected narcotics dealer in Akatsi and surrounding areas, admitted ownership of the seized items during preliminary questioning, according to the police.
