One person has been confirmed dead and another rescued following a collision between a Man-Diesel fuel tanker and a HOWO truck at the Kintampo Waterfalls junction on the Kintampo–Tamale highway on Wednesday (28 May 2025).
The Kintampo Fire Station received the emergency call at 12:14 PM and swiftly deployed a rescue team led by ASTNO Bismark Bonnah Frimpong. Upon arrival, the crew successfully rescued one driver who was trapped in the wreckage.
Earlier, four passengers with varying degrees of injury were evacuated and transported to hospital. Sadly, a motionless body was retrieved from the HOWO truck by fire service rescuers.
Both vehicles suffered extensive damage to their cowls. Fortunately, the fuel tanker was not carrying fuel at the time of the crash, averting a potential explosion.
Authorities have commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the collision.
The Ghana National Fire Service has urged all motorists, particularly on major highways, to exercise caution and adhere strictly to road safety regulations.
