Janet Nabla: I’m still PNC general secretary; ignore suspension notice

Nabla tells Asaase News she is going nowhere because the executives who suspended her "don’t have any power and nobody should respond to them"

Janet Nabla, the embattled general secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has dismissed reports suggesting she has been suspended from the party.

A statement issued by the chairman of the PNC, Moses Dani Baah, on Sunday (29 August) said the general secretary was suspended for “gross misconduct”.

The party said Nabla refused to appear before the disciplinary committee over a case of misconduct following a petition before the body.

However, speaking in an interview with Asaase News, Nabla said the purported National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting over the weekend did not form a quorum to warrant her suspension.

“They don’t have any onus in PNC, they don’t have any power and nobody should respond to them. I am the general secretary of the PNC,” she stressed.

Nabla added: “And then I will continue to be the general secretary of the PNC, and I will make sure the chairman (Moses Dani Baah) and the 2020 flagbearer (David Apasera) do what the constitution of PNC says they should do.”

“Apasera and Dani Baah, I am not answerable to them. The constitution makes me answerable to the National Executive Committee but NEC did not say it …that was not the party’s meeting, they just did it family and friends because they didn’t constitute a quorum to be able to decide that I am sacked, so am not sacked.”
