Suspected cable thief electrocuted in Kumasi

A spokesperson for the ECG, Grace Garshong is warning the general public to desist from such acts since it is life threatening.

Two cases of cable theft at separate installations of the Electricity Company of Ghana in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region resulted in the death of one person and injured one other.

The first incident occurred on Friday (6 August) when the suspect invaded the Ridge sub-station in an attempt to steal copper cables.

He, however, died after tampering with the power cables. The second incident also happened just behind the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council on Monday (August 8).

The suspect survived with life-threatening wounds and has been hospitalized.
