Kevin-Annan: Men must learn to express their emotions

Kevin-Annan said this is crucial towards the mental well being of men, especially when society has place barriers on men and how they should express themselves

Amos Kevin-Annan, a youth ministry consultant and life coach, has said men must learn to voice out and express their emotions rather than holding them back.

Kevin-Annan said this is crucial towards the mental well being of men, especially when society has place barriers on men and how they should express themselves.

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (16 June), Kevin-Annan said: “Isolation is the first step to desolation. This is why men have the highest success rates with suicide attempts.”

“Mental health is how sound your mind is,” he said. “How sound are your processes? Your interaction with life? The mind can be wasted and increasingly, we see men wasting their mind on things that are not helpful to their life.”

He added: “We need men to also learn how to differentiate between healthy emotion and unhealthy emotion. If you only show the other side of you in terms of your emotions, and leave the other half, you’re a half human being.”
