Ocansey questions size of Black Stars backroom staff, calls for clearer communication

Michael Ocansey has raised concerns over the recent expansion of the Black Stars technical bench, saying the appointments lack clarity and risk creating confusion.

Reacting to changes announced by the Ghana Football Association, Ocansey said Ghanaians were given only names without details about roles, contracts or duration.

“We just saw the list. No explanation on how long they’ll be there or what exactly they are doing,” he noted on the Asaase Breakfast  Show on Wednesday (18 February).

He argued that modern national teams require specialised support staff but cautioned that adding many personnel without defined responsibilities could create overlapping duties and internal friction.

Ocansey also questioned whether the additions were meant to compensate for perceived weaknesses around head coach Otto Addo.

“If they are just there to protect one person and their advice isn’t taken, then what is the point?” he asked.

He urged the FA to prioritise quality over numbers and to improve communication with the public to avoid unnecessary speculation.
