ECG releases 16-day load shedding timetable for parts of Accra

The intermittent power outage will enable the Electricity Company of Ghana to undertake some works aimed at improving power supply in Accra

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that parts of Accra will from 27 May 2021 experience intermittent power outage.

The power interruptions is expected to last for 16 days.

According to ECG, the schedule will help speed up with the construction of a section of the Ghana Grid Company’s (GRIDCo) 161KV Winneba to Mallam transmission lines.

A statement issued by the power provider said affected areas will experience power interruption between 6pm to 12pm within the scheduled period.

“As part of projects to improve power supply reliability and system voltage, the Electricity Company of Ghana in collaboration with the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) will undertake interruption in power supply to facilitate the work of contractors at various stages and times,” it said.

At least 40 communities will be affected, according to the schedule.

The affected areas include Cantonments, Golden Tulip, Alliance Francaise, Labadi, Gbawe Top Base, Mataheko, Airport Hills, Ashale Botwe Old Town, Nima, Kaneshie Market, Tesano, Dzorwulu, Airport Residential Area, Agegee, Legon Hills, Kotobabi, Maamobi, Pigfarm, Katamanso, Weija Old Barrier, Achimota, Hasto, Dansoman among others.
