NPP to hold high-stakes leadership meetings 17 June

The announcement was made in a notice signed by the party's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has summoned a meeting of its National Executive Committee and National Council on Tuesday (17 June).

The announcement was made in a notice signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.

The statement did not give specific details about the agenda but said the meetings were of critical importance.

They are expected to take place at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, with the National Executive Committee meeting scheduled for 10:00 am followed by the National Council gathering at 1:00 pm.

The move comes amid growing internal discussions within the party, which is preparing for a high-stakes general election in 2026 after losing power in the last polls.

Political analysts say the meetings could address emerging tensions among party leadership, as well as strategies for rebuilding public support.

The NPP, which ruled Ghana for eight years before its defeat, remains a key force in the country’s political landscape.
