NPP sets timetable for internal elections after presidential primaries

New Patriotic Party (NPP)/Council of Elders

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday announced a detailed timetable for its internal elections, setting out a months-long process from membership registration to constituency-level polls following its presidential primaries.

At a press conference in Accra, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said membership registration will run from March 1 to March 31, with data entry from April 1 to 10 and verification between 14 and 16 April.

Internal elections will begin at the polling station level, with nominations opening from April 20 to 24, vetting from April 25 to 30, and appeals from May 1 to 4. Polling station executive elections are scheduled for 10 to 16 May.

Electoral area executive elections will follow in June, with nominations from 23 to 25 May and voting from 10 to 15 June. Constituency executive elections will take place in July, with voting set for 11 and 12 July.

Kodua Frimpong said the constituency executive committees and regional steering committees will oversee the process under the supervision of the party’s national secretariat.

The roadmap follows the party’s 31 January presidential primaries that elected Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer for the 2028 general election.
