The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, has visited the Nayiri of the Mamprugu Kingdom, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, in Nalerigu as part of his tour to bolster support for his bid to become national chairman of the party.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Wontumi described the meeting as a “distinct honour” and praised the Nayiri for his guidance and mentorship. He noted that the traditional ruler has played a significant role in shaping his political and spiritual life.
“Having a father figure like the Nayiri is an extreme privilege, as his constant counsel has remained key in shaping both my spiritual and political life,” Wontumi wrote.
During the visit, the two discussed matters of mutual concern, including strategies to inspire confidence and unity within the party and among citizens.
Wontumi emphasized that the Nayiri’s belief in him serves as motivation to strengthen party cohesion and focus ahead of internal elections for national executives.
The NPP Ashanti Chairman expressed gratitude to the people of Nalerigu and the council of elders for their warm reception and prayed for the health and wellbeing of the Nayiri and his advisors.
