Menzgold changes mode of payment for reimbursing costumers

Menzgold said the changes to the payment model had been made on the recommendation of the police

Menzgold says it has switched from cash to electronic payment for its customers.

The defunct gold dealership firm said in October that from 20 December through 30 June 2022, it will begin paying all of its customers.

As a result, customers who believe their funds have been frozen must gather at a designated office to get payment.

However, in a statement released on Sunday (19 December), the management stated that some changes to the payment model had been made on the recommendation of the police.

The statement indicated that “in respect of the Ghana Police Service response in a letter dated 15 December 2021 with reference; CID/FFU.2/V.2/2021/315 to our letter amongst others advised that, the intended payment process should be done through an electronic medium, due to the following anticipated challenges our proposed payment model may pose to public peace and order that; it would expose the beneficiaries and your employees to imminent criminal attacks since cash would be carried to and fro the designated venue.”

The statement signed by the management of the defunct company further noted that “vetting of all the claims supporting documents received is still very much in progress, shortly after we’re able to successfully complete this very meticulous, systematic and very important exercise, we shall proceed to publicize all the tallies compiled as indicated in our 7 October 2021 publication prior. It’s important to also note that, we would keep updating the list of creditors within the indicated payment span when we subject the outstanding claims to our rigorous audit standards,” it stated.
