NPP polls: Navrongo Central elects party executives in second attempt

The Navrongo Central elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came off peacefully after a botched attempt last month

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday (12 May), successfully held elections in the Navrongo Central constituency after a failed attempt in April to elect new executives for the party.

Missing names and a court injunction ruined the party’s first attempt to hold the elections on 28 April 2022.

Whereas some delegates could not find their names in the party register, others screamed that there were still some outstanding issues at the electoral area level that the party leadership needed to address.

Thursdayā€™s election came on after all withstanding issues within the constituency had been addressed.

Allegations of financial misappropriation by the old executives popped up at the voting centre minutes before voting commenced, but the issues were amicably resolved.

The process began at 10 am, a little later than the announced 9 am, but the voting process was generally smooth, incident-free and peaceful.

There was a heavy police presence at the auditorium of the C.K Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences which served as the voting centre.

The Electoral Commission in the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly, led by its officer Nii Tetteh Okyne, ensured the process went on smoothly.
