NPP must maintain unity ahead of 2024 elections, says regional chairman

Kwabena Owusu-Sekyere, the Ahafo regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has entreated members of the party to maintain unity and love ahead of the elections in 2024.

According to him, the party’s agenda to break the eight-year political cycle between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the NPP [breaking the 8] cannot be achieved with division and hate among members.

The regional chairman implored members of the elephant party at the polling stations, electoral areas, constituencies, regional and national levels to ensure togetherness towards maintaining political power.

Owusu-Sekyere was speaking in an interview with journalists in Mim in the Ahafo Region, on the role of party supporters to winning the 2024 general elections with Dr Bawumia as presidential candidate.

At the delegates elections on Saturday 4 November, 2023 in the Ahafo region, Kennedy Agyapong had 1,040, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia recorded 2,985 while Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai – Nimo got 12 and nine votes respectively.

The regional chairman, therefore, charged members of the NPP especially delegates and communicators to refrain from mocking, teasing and casting insinuations after the just-ended flagbearer elections saying “together we stand, divided we fall”.

“It will not be well with the NPP in the upcoming general elections if party men and women especially radio and television callers, texters and social media handlers keep abusing themselves verbally” he cautioned.

The Ahafo regional chairman admonished the NPP to unite and focus all their attention on the election of competent parliamentary candidates to pair Dr Bawumia at the various constituencies.

Owusu-Sekyere charged aspiring and potential candidates to avoid insults and instead concentrate on presenting their visions and plans for the constituents adding “together, we can break the 8”.
