NPP flagbearer race: I’m the “David” in the contest of “Goliaths”, says Addai-Nimoh

The NPP is yet to set a date for its primaries later this year to elect parliamentary candidates and a flagbearer ahead of the 2024 Elections

Francis Addai-Nimoh, a flagbearer aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it is now his time to lead the party ahead of the 2024 presidential elections.

He said he has what it takes to help the Danquah-Busia-Dombo family to ‘break the 8’, hoping that the delegates will give him the mandate to become the party’s flagbearer.

The NPP is yet to set a date for its primaries later this year to elect parliamentary candidates and a flagbearer ahead of the 2024 Elections.

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (7 February), Addai-Nimoh said he still remains the Biblical ‘David’ – the young shepherd and harpist who gained fame by killing the giant, Goliath – among his competitors for the flagbearer position of the NPP.

“The current president, Nana Akufo-Addo, had been a minister in John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration, Alan Kyerematen, Joe Ghartey  then Kofi Konadu Apraku – they have all served as ministers under JA Kufuor. So, I saw myself as the only David,” he said.

“My desire is to lead the party,” Addai-Nimoh said. “So, the fight is between David and Goliath, so right now the interesting thing is that Addai-Nimoh is still the David and so I still have my stone.”
