NPP donates GHC100,000 to Kejetia Market fire victims

Led by the party's general secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, the delegation were at the market to inspect the fire scene and also interact with the affected victims

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has donated GHC100, 000 to support traders whose shops were destroyed by fire at the Kejetia Market in the Ashanti Region.

Led by the party’s general secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, the delegation were at the market to inspect the fire scene and also interact with the affected victims.

“We want to express our deepest sympathy to our market women and men whose shops were gutted by fire not long ago. We share with them the agony that they are going through at this material moment,” Kodua said.

“Knowing the situation that they find themselves in, the party has made a pledge of GHC100,000 to support the market women and men whose shops got burnt, at least to support them in the interim, while we know that the government will also have a package for them,” he added.

Meanwhile, the market will open to full business on Tuesday (21 March) after Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia intervened during a visit to the place on Monday.

The facility managers had planned a one week shutdown to allow for thorough repair works but the decision has been reversed.
