Northern Region: Tolon SHS closed down over fire outbreak

The Tolon Senior High School in the Northern Region has been closed down temporarily after a fire outbreak, destroying some properties.

School officials said it became imperative to close down the school because the dormitories housing the students have been completely burnt.

“For now the school has been closed down,” the headmaster of Tolon SHS, Muhammed Issifu told Asaase News. “The students have been temporarily requested to go home and come back within the week, the dormitory that accommodates the girls has been completely burnt down”.

However, the northern regional acting spokesperson of the Ghana National Fire Service, Assistant Division Office Grade 2, Baba Hudu said that the cause of the fire is yet to be established, but preliminary investigations have uncovered that some students did not switch off electrical appliances after use.
