North East Region: Asenso-Boakye inspects ongoing road projects

The roads minister in his tour of the region has been taunting the achievements of the government in the road sector and has been urging the constituents to vote for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 December elections

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye on Wednesday (12 June 2024) inspected some major roads and bridges under construction in the North East Region.

The roads minister in his tour of the region has been taunting the achievements of the government in the road sector and has been urging the constituents to vote for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 December elections.

In the Mamprugu Moaduri District, the sector Minister and his entourage first inspected the first ever tarred road in the Mamprugu Moaduri District thus, Wiase Junction-Yizesi-Sonbiisi (52km) road which has been completed by MAWUMS Company Limited and has been handed over to the Government of Ghana but yet to be commissioned.

Other roads under highways that are ongoing and were inspected by the sector Minister in the Mamprugu Moaduri District include the Yagaba-Kubori-Mankarigu-Nawuni (29.5km), the Yagaba-Loagri-Sakpaba-Prima road (24km), and the Yagaba-Soo road (23 km).

The minister and the entourage also inspected the 210m-span Mishuo-Wuyima bridge and the 9.4km access road to the bridge which when completed will shorten the long distance that travelers always embark through the Upper East Region to the Mamprugu Moaduri District.

Senso-Boakye also inspected the Wulugu-Wiase road (35km) and Walewale township roads in the West Mamprusi Municipality, saying that he is impressed with the progress of work in the North East Region and the numerous road works across the country.

Climaxing his tour of the region in Walewale, Francis Asenso-Boakye used the opportunity to seek the support of the residents in the region, saying that they should rally behind the leader and the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to emerge victoriously in the 2024 elections to bring more development to the area.

“I must say that I am very pressed with the work [done] so far and am very confident that the contractors will finish the projects on scheduled or ahead of schedule,” Asenso-Boakye said.

“Road construction is something that everybody cannot deny, the fact that this government, Nana Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration has built more than any government in the history of Ghana.”

“We can assure you that we are going to even do more, especially, when you vote Dr Bawumia to be the next president of Ghana so he can continue the good works of his boss, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo. So far, I am very much impressed with what I have seen and I want to assure that we will do more,” he added.

The roads and highways Minister was accompanied by the roads and highways authority, the MP for Yagaba-Kubori and Minister for Youth and Sports, Ussif Mustapha, the North East Regional Minister, Yidana Zakaria, the MP for Walewale, Hajia Lariba Abudu Zuwera, the MCE for West Mamprusi, Issahak Arimeyaw Basintale Somo Lucky, the DCE for Mamprugu Moaduri District, Abu Adams, and several other dignitaries.
