Final funeral rites for late Nollywood actor Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke, popularly known as Chief Ikuku, were held on Thursday, 18 June, in his hometown of Arochukwu in Abia State, Nigeria.
The solemn ceremony attracted hundreds of mourners, including family members, friends, colleagues from the Nigerian film industry, government officials, dignitaries, and well-wishers who gathered to bid farewell to the actor.
Dressed predominantly in white, mourners assembled at the Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, where tributes were paid in honour of the late thespian, whose contributions to Nollywood were widely celebrated.
Several prominent Nollywood stars attended the funeral, including Ikechukwu Ogbonna, Mike Godson, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, and Stan Nze, among others, reflecting the respect and admiration Ekubo commanded within the industry.
During the ceremony, emotional tributes highlighted his personality, career achievements, and the legacy he leaves behind in Nigeria’s entertainment sector.
Following the service, his remains were conveyed to his family house at Aziukwu Ujari Village, where he was laid to rest according to tradition.
A reception is currently underway, bringing together family, colleagues, and fans to celebrate his life and contribution to Nollywood.
Alexx Ekubo was one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actors, known for his roles in several major productions across the industry.
