No Windows 12 in 2025: Microsoft commits to faster Windows 11 updates instead
Tech giant confirms version 25H2 will deliver significant improvements, keeping users on Windows 11 for the foreseeable future

Microsoft has officially quashed rumors of a Windows 12 launch in 2025, confirming that the company’s focus will remain firmly on enhancing Windows 11.
In a recent update shared via the tech community and outlets like gHacks, Microsoft announced there would be no major new Windows version this year. Instead, users can look forward to Windows 11 version 25H2, promising speedier performance, enhanced security, and user experience refinements.
Microsoft stated that the 25H2 update will arrive in the second half of 2025 and aims to modernize key system components while retaining the familiar Windows 11 interface. The update will integrate several improvements previously tested in Windows Insider builds, including AI-powered features, streamlined updates, and deeper cloud integration for enterprise environments.
This move aligns with Microsoft’s strategy of “Windows as a service,” prioritizing rolling feature updates over massive generational upgrades. It also suggests that the company is carefully pacing its evolution of the Windows platform rather than rushing into a new operating system.
For businesses and consumers alike, this decision offers stability and continued support without the disruption of migrating to a brand-new OS. While some enthusiasts had hoped for Windows 12, Microsoft’s focus remains on making Windows 11 as robust and modern as possible.
Users can expect the 25H2 update to roll out gradually starting later this year, with broader availability in early 2026.
