North East Region: Sports Minister cuts sod for construction of senior high technical school in Yizesi

According to the Member of Parliament for Yagaba-Kubori, Mustapha Ussif, the project is expected to be completed within six months

Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports has cut the sod for the construction of a senior high technical school in Yizesi in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the North East Region.

The move comes after the youth led by the chief of the community, Naabalingu Iddrisu Abubakari had appealed to Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia and the Member of Parliament, Ussif Mustapha, to consider building a senior high school in the area to boost education.

The minister on the 24 December 2022 held a sod-cutting ceremony in the community for the project to start.

The project, which is funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund) is starting with a six-unit classroom block.

According to the minister, the project is expected to be completed within six months, starting with a six-unit classroom block,12-seated toilet facilities and a mechanised water system.

The MP said the government is starting with a six-unit classroom block because of the current economic hardships.

This is the second senior high school to be built in the Mamprugu Moaduri District after the Yagaba Senior High Technical School which was commissioned in January 2013.

The chief of the Yizesi community, Naabalingu Iddrisu Abubakari and his elders who were present at the sod-cutting ceremony also expressed their profound gratitude to the MP and the government but implored them not to leave the project.
