Nkoranza disturbances: We’re in firm control, police say

One person was shot, while five others are receiving medical attention after irate youth in the area attacked the police on Tuesday to demand for justice over the alleged killing of a citizen

The Ghana Police Service has said calm has been restored in Nkoranza in the Bono East Region after some irate youth attacked a police station over the alleged killing of Albert Donkor by some cops.

Donkor was picked up at his mother’s residence at Kasadjan in the Nkoranza Municipality by the police on 25 April on suspicion of being involved in a robbery operation on the Nkoranza-Kintampo road.

“The police service continues to be in firm control of the situation at Nkoranza and its environs where peace, law and order have been restored and residents are going about their socio-economic activities without fear or hindrance.

“Through a targeted intelligence-led operation, the police have re-arrested one murder suspect who was among those who had escaped from cells. Also, three additional persons have been arrested in connection with the disturbances bringing the total number of arrested persons to five,” the police said in a statement.
