MzVee to upcoming artistes: Don’t neglect your family

MzVee has advised young artists to seek the support of their families throughout their musical journey in order to shape their career

Ghanaian singer Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, also known as MzVee has advised upcoming artists to have the support of their families in their musical journey.

“Don’t axe your family; make sure they are present in everything you are doing. That was the mistake I made” the Daavi hitmaker told Naa Ashorkor on Between Hours show on Tuesday (5 July).

“Because work was so overwhelming, I was not communicating with family. It was just work, that I had to even stop school, that’s how bad it was.”

“So I stopped talking to family. But I feel like if I had my mum in my ears all the time, I wouldn’t have gone through what I went through,” she said.

According to the musician, it gets difficult along the way and families are a great help in trying times.

“They should surround themselves with good people, that’s also really really important because as a musician you are like the whole company. You are like a walking company, everything is you” she added

“Be patient. It’s not easy because nothing happens overnight. It’s a very tough industry and especially for girls. So if you are a girl trying to do this you have to be really patient or take advantage of you and it won’t end well.”
