The National Health Insurance Scheme Authority (NHIA) reports that it has disbursed over GHC300 million in claims payments to healthcare facilities across the country.
A statement by NHIA on 11 June 2024, said this payment covers claims vetted for higher-tier facilities up to January 2024.
This amount is said to cover “the claims vetted for higher tier facilities up to January 2024. For lower tier facilities, the payments are within the acceptable three-month debt period.”
The statement added that the move underscores the NHIA’s commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare services and the sustainability of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
According to the statement, the timely disbursement of claims aims to improve the quality of care provided to all NHIS members while also supporting healthcare providers’ operational needs.
