Two police officers drown in the Oda River

Lance Corporal Akwasi Boateng and Stephen Kyeremeh go missing on the Oda River

Two police officers, identified as Lance Corporal Akwasi Boateng and Stephen Kyeremeh, are believed to have drowned in the Oda River situated at Korbro in the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The two officers, according to reports, were in pursuit of suspected criminals in the area when the canoe ferrying them capsized.

The criminals were believed to have crossed the river to the other side during the pursuit, leaving the officers with no option but to follow them with the canoe.

The boat capsized midway through the chase.

The Oda River is said to be as big as the River Pra and River Offin and serves as Ghana Water Company Limited’s source of water that is treated for the Obuasi Municipality.
