Nsawam: Chief and ex-soldier arrested over murder of suspected goat thief

The police are holding the two men after they allegedly seized a man suspected of stealing a pregnant goat and beat him to death

Police in the Eastern Region have arrested a retired military officer, Warrant Officer I Adjona Henry, and a chief, Nana Odiasempa Nii Ade Quaye, for beating a suspected goat thief to death.

The police said the incident occurred in Ayigbe Town, a suburb of Nsawam, after the now dead man, identified as Abombi, was arrested following claims that he had stolen a pregnant goat he found in the area.

According to the Eastern Regional Police spokesman, Sergeant Francis Gomado, the former soldier beat Abombi viciously when he was brought to the chief’s palace, until he lost consciousness.

Gomado said Abombi died within 24 hours of the ordeal.

The police have launched a full-scale investigation into the case.
