IJM honours Asaase’s Albert Kuzor as ‘Justice Champion’

Kuzor and nine other news reporters from various media organisations received a certificate of recognition after barely one year of the fellowship

Albert Kuzor, the Volta regional correspondent of Asaase 99.5 Accra, has been recognised as a ‘Justice Champion’ by the International Justice Mission (IJM), a non-profit organisation fighting human trafficking in the nation.

In October 2021, Kuzor was shortlisted for the IJM’s Young Journalist Fellowship, a programme the organisation launched with the intention of empowering young journalists from across the nation to be advocates for human trafficking, particularly the trafficking of children on the Volta Lake. 

Kuzor and nine other news reporters from various media organisations received a certificate of recognition after barely one year of the fellowship.

Senyalah Castro, the Upper East correspondent for Asaase, Philip Teye Agbove, a reporter for the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and others were also honored that evening.

IJM advised the journalists to put into practice what they learnt and be a good advocates.

Kuzor expressed gratitude to IJM for the honour as well as to Asaase Radio for “grooming” him.

According to statistics from IJM, since 2015 to date, some 344 victims of human trafficking have been rescued, 210 suspects have been arrested out of which some 46 have been convicted.

IJM has also trained 18,812 persons from different institutions including the Media, Police, Social Welfare Department and Judiciary on Human Trafficking and ways to eliminate it.
