Blakk Rasta: Shatta Wale was my friend, but Satan came in at a point

The two reggae lovers have been at loggerheads for close to two decades over what Blakka Rasta describes as “ego”

The controversial reggae musician Blakk Rasta has said his friendship with the dancehall artist Shatta Wale went sour because of personality differences.

“You know he’s been my friend from the start, but Satan came in, ego and a lot of other things came in to destroy us,” he said, speaking on Asaase 99.5 Accra‘s Yaad Settingz show with King Lagazee.

There has been a long-standing rift between Blakk Rasta and Shatta Wale, and the artist, who is also a radio show host in his own right, said: “I am excited now because I and him have been at loggerheads for close to 20 years.”

The musical brain behind “Barack Obama (root version)” said, “In fact, the day that I heard him talk on Facebook live, I had goose bumps all over me.

“He sent a message out that he’s going to be talking about Blakk Rasta, so check me out … I thought he was going to be his usual self.

“Then he said he was going to block anybody who talks ill about Blakk Rasta. So, it made me think, ‘A man who loves his fans so much is willing to push some of them away if they disrespect me …’” Blakk Rasta said.

Over the years, Blakk Rasta has described the dancehall artist as ungrateful and as a terrible role model for the youth.
