Football fans must get vaccinated to have access to league games, says GFA president

Football fans who are yet to receive their COVID-19 vaccines will not be allowed entry into match venues

Ahead of the start of the new football season, fans who are yet to receive their COVID-19 vaccines will not be allowed entry into match venues, the Ghana FA boss Kurt Okraku said.

“We are engaging government to ensure that we have more fans accessing our games,” Okraku said at the 27th ordinary session of congress of the GFA at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram on Thursday.

“But one of the key requirements will be for all of us to ensure that we are vaccinated to be able to access football.

“What that means is that, all our players and staff will be vaccinated [that has already started]. And all football fans who will want to access games at our various stadia must prove that they have received vaccination”, the GFA president added.

The Ghana Premier League will kick off on Friday 29 October 2021 with the opening game between newly promoted side Accra Lions and Elmina Sharks at the Accra Stadium.
