Over 350 Guinness World Records applications received from Ghana since July 2023

The Guinness Book of World Records has disclosed that between July 2023 and January 2024, it received more than 350 applications from Ghana

Guinness World Records has received over 350 applications from Ghana since July 2023.

According to Guinness World Record’s Alina Polianskaya, a total of 355 applications have been received from individuals in Ghana alone.

Again, out of 355, GWR received 251 applications by the end of December 2023 and a whopping 80 applications as of 5 January 2024.

From cook-a-thons to sing-a-thons, individuals across the region are demonstrating an unprecedented passion for pushing their limits.

In December 2023, Ghanaian broadcast journalist Afua Asantewaa Aduonum exceeded the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual, completing her attempt to overturn the record on Friday (29 December) by singing for an unmatched 126 hours and 52 minutes.

“It has been amazing to see the enthusiasm for record-breaking in the past year and we look forward to seeing even more success to come,” Polianskaya said.

She, however, emphasised that only a few applications can become records; “for context, only a small percentage of applications go on to become records, with around 95% of applications not converting to records.”

Currently, Ghana’s Failatu Abdul-Razak is officially on her journey to break the longest solo cooking record in the Guinness World Record.
