GPL: Aduana beat Bechem to regain top spot, Gold Stars stun Samartex

Aduana FC are back on the top of the Ghana Premier League table after beating Bechem United 1-0 coupled with Samartex’s shocking defeat at Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday.

Aduana earlier on Friday had beaten Bechem United one nil at home to restore their lead at the top one point.

Alex Aso and Prince Owusu Kwabena scored in either half as Bibiani Gold Stars beat Fc Samartex 3-0 to return to win in ways to end a 10-game winless run.

It was new coach Frimpong Manso’s first game in charge since he took over from Michael Osei.

The result brings to an end a five-game unbeaten run for FC Samartex. 

At the Theatre of Dreams at Dawu, Legon Cities pip Bofoakwa Tano. Suraj Yussif Kamal scored the winning goal in the 31st-minute mark to give the Royals a 1-0 win.

Meanwhile, Berekum Chelsea recorded yet another win on the road as they pipped Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium courtesy a 58th-minute strike from Kofi Ansu Patrick.
The former champions who have lost only once in their last four away matches are third in the League standings with 26 points.

Accra Great Olympics held Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw and ended their four-game winning streak.

The draw leaves Asante Kototo in 7th place with 23 points – four points behind leaders Aduana FC.

“We were a bit slow today in the game. We faced a very tough customer in the team of Great Olympics.”

Great Olympics played well but we squandered a lot of chances”. – David Marvin Ocloo, Asante Kotoko’s assistant coach said.

Accra Great Olympics are unbeaten in their last four games. The head coach after the game said; “We played against an Asante Kotoko team that is more motivated and playing good football.

“It was a difficult game but at the end of it all Great Olympics proved a point”. He added.

On Monday Nsoatreman will go level on points with leaders Aduana if they beat Accra Lions in the outstanding fixture of matchday 15.
