Mamprugu Moaduri: Sports Minister cuts sod for the construction of 60 stores at Yizesi market

Ussif Mustapha said the completion of the project will empower women in the district economically

The Member of Parliament for the Yabaga-Kubori constituency and the Minister for Youth and Sports, Ussif Mustapha, have cut sod for the construction of sixty stores to kickstart at the Yizesi market in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the North East Region.

The project, which is under the SOCO Project with funding from the World Bank, has earmarked the construction of 20 lockable stores and 40 unlockable stores to elevate economic activity in the area.

The contractor has assured the residents of quality work and promised to execute the project within a four-month period and hand it over to the assembly.

Similar projects under the SOCO project are ongoing in the district to enhance business activities.

Speaking on the sidelines of the sod-cutting ceremony at the Yizesi market, Ussif Mustapha, asserted that the completion of the project will empower women in the district economically.

“Today, we are cutting sod for the Yizesi market and this is going to be one of the biggest markets within the Mamprugu Moaduri District. This project is under SOCO. It is a government project that we are doing for the people of Yizesi,” he said.

He added that “the project is going to be 20 lockable stores and 40 unlockable stores and this is going to be one of the social projects that is going to empower a lot of women economically within the district.”

For his part, the district chief executive, Abu Adams, at the sod-cutting ceremony also urged the chief and youth of the Yizesi community to support the contractor to finish the project on the stipulated time given for the residents to benefit from the project.

“This is one of the greatest interventions that the government is doing and we want the support of the chief, the youth, to be able to complete this project for the benefit of the people,” Abu Adams said.

The Yizesi community is the largest and most populated in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the North East Region.
