Addai-Nimoh sets out three conditions for NPP to “break the 8”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant has said it is very possible for the ruling party to “break the 8”

A flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Addai-Nimoh has outlined three conditions for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win the 2024 elections.

Speaking with Benjamin Offei-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (24 October) Addai-Nimoh said it is very possible for the NPP to “break the 8”.

“I have articulated that ‘breaking the 8’ can be achieved and there is a possibility for everybody to set a record in every endeavour. So for the first time, the New Patriotic Party is determined to do so. But I have three conditions which must be satisfied before that can be achieved…”

“The first one is the internal unity of the members of the party; if your internal unity and strength are weak, then we cannot marshal the maximum force for the external battle,” he said.

Addai-Nimoh added, “The second factor is based on the performance of the government because it is NPP-led government of Nana Akufo-Addo … and the third one is, who will be the face to lead the party”

“Chances are bright”

Addai-Nimoh said he is confident of obtaining about 30% of the total votes come 4 November.

“My chances are bright … it is an open field and the views of delegates differ… I’m expecting this election to go for a run-off and I’m pushing for a run-off.”

“and why I am pushing for a run-off is that we can use that one as a process of achieving unity in the party. If there is a run-off between Addai-Nimoh and any of the other three, then, there is an obligation on my part to try to get the support of the others…”
