Chief Imam suspends personal assistant indefinitely

The suspension comes after Khuzaimah had acquired a plot of land at Ablekuma in the name of the Chief Imam without his consent

Ghana News Agency (Accra) – Khuzaimah Osman, the personal assistant of the Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, has been suspended indefinitely, a statement from the office of the Chief of Imam has said.

“The National Chief Imam, in consultation with his advisory board, has indefinitely suspended Alhaji Khuzaimah Osman from acting as an officer at the National Chief Imam’s Office with immediate effect,” the statement said.

The statement, signed by A D Kadiri-English, secretary to the Chief Imam’s advisory board, said Khuzaimah ceases henceforth to be the personal assistant to the National Chief Imam.

He also will no longer serve as the executive director of the Chief Imam Education Fund (Sunset Fund) and the Islamic Peace and Security Council, among other positions he held on the Chief Imam’s behalf.

The statement therefore advised the public against engaging his services as an official at the office of the National Chief Imam.

Land problem

Khuzaimah’s suspension follows his involvement in a dispute over a piece of land at Ablekuma, in Accra. He is said to have acquired the land in the name of the National Chief Imam without his consent.

Khuzaimah had earlier taken members of the press to a piece of land which had been overrun by land guards and claimed that it was gifted to the Office of the National Chief Imam by the chiefs of Ablekuma.

He said attempts to get the local police to step in and secure the land for the office had not yielded the desired result.

Denial

However, the Chief Imam denies owning the land, and has stressed that “his office has not been created to be exploited for one’s personal gain”.

He warned those using his name and office for personal ventures to desist.

The Office of the Chief Imam therefore advised members of the general public against engaging Khuzaimah or seeking his services.

Osman has been replaced by Dr Mohammed Marzuk Abubakar Azindon.
