The chief executive officer of Ghana Publishing Company Ltd, David Asante, has escaped unhurt after the car in which he was travelling from the Upper East Region to Nalerigu, in the North-East Region, was involved in an accident.
Asante, who is also a member of the national communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was travelling in the company of a driver.
Confirming the incident to Asaase News, the deputy national youth organiser of the NPP Perpetual Lomokei, a member of the team that was travelling with Asante, said the accident occurred near Walewale in the North-East Region. Lomokei was sitting in a different vehicle.
She said Asante is the leader of the NPP team tasked by the party to train its “Volunteers for Election 2020” (V20) in the five Northern regions of the country. The team had completed the training exercise in the Upper East Region and was heading to the North-East, after which they would have visited the Northern, Savannah and Upper West Regions.
The deputy youth organiser said that Asante has since returned to Accra to seek further medical attention. He received treatment immediately after the accident from doctors at a hospital in the North-East.
The accident involving the Ghana Publishing boss and his driver follows a similar incident in the Ashanti Region involving the NPP national organiser, Sammi Awuku, and a team of party officials.
They were on a parallel training mission travelling from Kumasi to Koforidua.
