I fear politics may hinder the progress of Cape Coast, says Oguaamanhen

The paramount chief of Cape Coast has urged residents to eschew extreme partisanship and work together to develop the Central Region

Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the paramount chief of Cape Coast, has said he fears extreme partisanship in Cape Coast may hinder the progress of the town.

Speaking with Nana Yaa Mensah on the Sunday Night programme on Asaase 99.5, he said, “At times I wonder because I will say political upheavals, especially in Cape Coast mostly originate not from the principal people but from those supporters; because if it from the principals you can always get them together, talk to them and invariably agree with 90% of what you suggest and there will be peace.”

Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II added, “But politics has become so engrossed in people that they see everything and every step as political and that is what I fear may hinder the progress of this town … when I talk to my colleagues elsewhere it’s the same.”

The paramount chief has, therefore, urged residents to eschew extreme partisanships and work together to develop the Central Region.

He said, “We have to look at problems realistically, not bringing in politics but looking for the betterment of our people and for the progress of the town.”

“If we did that I think most of the problems we are facing will die off,” he added.
