School of Thoughts Ghana promotes tertiary education at exhibition

The head of academic affairs at the SD Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies in Wa, Mu-een Abdulai, said the university is ready to collaborate with School of Thoughts Ghana to enhance access to tertiary education for students in northern Ghana

A non-profit organization, School of Thoughts Ghana, has organised an educational exhibition for final year senior high school students in the North East Region on programmes at the tertiary level and career opportunities.

The organisation seeks to bridge the educational gap between rural and urban Ghana with a particular focus on improving standards and quality in northern Ghana. It has three main areas of operation: human capacity development, advocacy, and opportunity creation.

The exhibition, which was organised on Saturday 3 June, hosted representatives from universities across the country and study abroad groups who showcased their programmes and career opportunities available to students.

In an interview with the media after the event at the Walewale Astro Turf stadium, the founder and executive director of School of Thoughts Ghana, Abraham Agoni, said, “This event is one of the biggest we’ve organised in the North East Region. I was quite impressed with the lessons that the students have learnt because hitherto, we had students in northern Ghana who had no idea what higher education options were available to them. Together with my team, we are proud of what we have done today.”

The head of academic affairs at the SD Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies in Wa, Mu-een Abdulai, said the university is ready to collaborate with School of Thoughts Ghana to enhance access to tertiary education for students in northern Ghana.

“We are ready to collaborate with School of Thoughts Ghana, moving forward…in future, we can have several of such programmes to bridge that gap between the north and the south…most of our students in northern Ghana will be able to access tertiary institutions to improve their lives,” he said.

The North East regional minister, Yidana Zakaria, also encouraged students to seize the opportunity to choose life-changing programmes at accredited universities.

The winner of Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2022, Teiya Ayisha Dahamani, urged students at the exhibition to be humble and stay focused to achieve their dreams.
