Global mining giant Newmont Corporation has announced the appointment of Danquah Addo-Yobo as Country Manager for its Ghana operations, effective 1 October 2025, marking a strategic step in the company’s ongoing global restructuring.
The appointment comes as part of Newmont’s broader realignment of its international business, which now integrates its Africa and Asia-Pacific operations under a newly established Africa Asia Pacific (AAP) Business Unit.
In his new capacity, Addo-Yobo will serve as the company’s primary representative in Ghana, leading efforts to strengthen partnerships with stakeholders, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure the sustainability of Newmont’s business outcomes in the country.
With more than two decades of executive experience across mining, agribusiness, telecommunications, and logistics, Addo-Yobo is widely respected for his record in driving business transformation across multiple continents including Africa, Canada, and Asia.
Before assuming his new role, he served as Regional Chief Financial Officer for Newmont Africa and Canada, where he provided financial leadership that supported the company’s growth and operational stability.
Prior to joining Newmont, he held several top-tier leadership positions at Yara International, including Regional Managing Director for West Africa and Managing Director for Ghana, where he was credited with steering regional expansion and operational transformation.
Addo-Yobo’s career also spans senior roles at Maersk and Vodafone, where he gained extensive experience in finance, operations, and commercial strategy.
His appointment is seen as a reflection of Newmont’s renewed focus on country-level engagement, strategic partnerships, and sustainable value creation, especially within Ghana’s evolving mining landscape — one of the most significant contributors to the nation’s economy.
