NEDCo assures Sunyani residents of swift resolution to power outages

The area manager, Odoi Addo said NEDCo had deployed additional technical support from its headquarters in Tamale to fast-track the restoration process

The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has assured residents of Sunyani and surrounding areas that urgent steps are being taken to restore stable electricity following a recent wave of unexpected outages.

Speaking at a press briefing in Sunyani on Monday (28 April 2025), area manager Eugene Odoi Addo clarified that the disruptions were due to technical faults and not part of any planned load-shedding exercise.

“I want to categorically state that we are not undertaking any load-shedding programme,” he said. “The interruptions are purely due to unforeseen technical issues, and our teams are working diligently to fix them.”

Odoi Addo said NEDCo had deployed additional technical support from its headquarters in Tamale to fast-track the restoration process.

“We understand the frustration of our customers, and we are doing everything within our means to restore consistent power,” he added.

Communities including Fiapre, Berlin Top, and Abesim have been heavily affected in recent days.

The outages prompted an emergency visit by Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboah, who toured NEDCo’s control room in Sunyani.

“This is unacceptable,” the Minister stated. “I am directing the management of NEDCo to resolve the issue urgently.”
