NDPC boss Kodjo Esseim Mensah-Abrampa is dead

According to sources close to the family, Mensah-Abrampa was rushed to the hospital for treatment in the early hours of Monday after suffering what is suspected to have been a heart attack

The respected development planner and economist Kodjo Esseim Mensah-Abrampa has passed away.

He died at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital on Monday (1 July 2024).

Dr Mensah-Abrampa was the director general of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).

According to sources close to the Mensah-Abrampa family, he was rushed to the hospital for treatment in the early hours of Monday after suffering a suspected heart attack.

Doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead.

Development planner

The passing of Dr Mensah-Abrampa has sent shockwaves through public life, with tributes pouring in from individuals and various interest areas where he worked, including the government, academia and the development community.

Mensah-Abrampa was a reputable figure in development planning and economics, with 28 years of experience in the field.

He was a lecturer and had worked with numerous international organisations, including the United Nations Development Programme and the World Bank.

His leadership at the NDPC was instrumental in shaping Ghana’s development agenda.
