NDC praises peaceful conduct of NPP flagbearer election

NDC and NPP

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the smooth and orderly conduct of its presidential primary, which saw former vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia elected as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the NDC described the process as “peaceful and well organised,” noting that it reflected positively on Ghana’s democratic credentials.

The party also commended the Ghana Police Service for maintaining security throughout the exercise.

“The professionalism displayed by the police contributed significantly to maintaining peace and order during the primary,” the statement said.

The NDC also welcomed the reconciliatory statements issued by unsuccessful NPP aspirants, calling on the party to uphold unity and stability.

Beyond congratulating the NPP, the NDC reiterated its commitment to multi-party cooperation and constructive engagement to strengthen Ghana’s democracy.
