Nayiri to address Bawku disturbances at press conference today

The Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sherigah II, is expected to speak on recent unrest in Bawku at a press conference scheduled for Thursday (17 April).
The event will take place at the Nayiri Palace in Nalerigu, the traditional seat of the Mamprugu Kingdom, at 10:00 A.M.
Naa Bohagu Sherigah II, who also serves as President of the North East Regional House of Chiefs, will use the platform to address the protracted disturbances in Bawku which have led to the loss of lives and destruction of property since 2021.
The press briefing, under the theme “Acts of Lawlessness, Banditry and Terrorism Unacceptable in My Beloved Bawku,” is expected to call for calm and stability in the area. The Nayiri is also expected to engage with paramount chiefs, youth groups, and traditional leaders across the Mamprugu Kingdom.
The Bawku conflict continues to draw national concern, with calls for dialogue and lasting peace in the troubled municipality.
