National Communications Awards 2022: Asaase bags five nominations

The 4th edition of the National Communications Awards is scheduled for Saturday 3 December 2022 in Accra

Three on-air personalities of Asaase 99.5 Accra have bagged five nominations at the 2022 National Communications Awards taking place on 3 December 2022.

The 4th edition of the awards is scheduled to take place at the Labadi Beach Hotel under the theme: “The digitalised economy; innovation for national development.”

Elvis Crystal, host of Rush Hour will be competing in the radio personality of the year category and radio show host of the year category with Francis Abban, Giovanni Caleb, Godfrey Ainoo, Umaru Sanda Amadu and Nana Quasi Wusu.

The host of Between Hours and Just Us, Naa Ashorkor will be competing in the media woman of the year category and radio personality of the year category against Stacy Amoateng, Auntie Naa, Mama Effe Amanor, Ohemaa Kente Ameyaw, Annie Afua Ampofo, Priscilla Rahm Afful, Portia Gabor and Roselyn Felli.

The anchor of The Big Bulletin, Beatrice Adu will be competing for the radio newscaster of the year with Komla Adom, Eric Mawuena Egbeta, Kwaku Aduamah Ansah and Korku Lumor.

Brief profile of Asaase 99.5 Accra’s nominees

Elvis Crystal

Crystal has over 19 years of persistent presence in Accra’s drive-time space.

He is an astute and prolific on-air radio personality, voice actor, TV host and screen actor. In 2018, Crystal made his debut in the film industry, starring in ABC Pictures’ Christian Village. He is also a poet and spoken-word performer.

Naa Ashorkor

TV and Radio personality Naa Ashorkor has been in the media fraternity for the past 15 years.

She is also a radio producer with experience in TV, project management, film, and print media. She has produced over 200 live shows across Ghana, Nigeria and beyond.

Currently, she is the creative director for a number of commercials and corporate films. In addition, she also has experience in hosting and presenting on various public forums, including television, radio and newspaper. This includes lecturing students on broadcast journalism and reporting on current affairs.

Beatrice Adu

Beatrice Adu has worked in broadcasting for over 10 years receiving local and international awards and recognition from Princess Anne of the British Royal family.

She has won awards such as:

  • GJA best crime and court reporter (2015)
  • Zimeo Africa Media Media Excellence Awards (1st runner-up)
  • Best health reporter in Ghana (2014)
  • Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences certificate (2011)
  • UNAIDS (2013)
