Napo denies 2028 presidential ambition, says focus is on party unity

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate for the 2024 presidential elections, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has reaffirmed his commitment to unifying the party following the heavy defeat it suffered in the last election.

Speaking on the sidelines of the NPP meeting in Accra on Wednesday (16 April), Dr Opoku Prempeh stressed that his immediate priority is to help build a cohesive front in support of the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“My immediate interest now is to get a united party,” Napo, as he is affectionately called told reporters.

He also moved to quash speculation about a potential presidential run in 2028, firmly denying any such ambition.

The comments are seen as an attempt to dispel distractions and reinforce his current role as a key figure in the 2024 campaign.
