Nabdam achieve 100% voter turnout in special voting

Upper East Region shines with remarkable participation as peaceful voting sets the stage for upcoming polls

The Nabdam constituency in the Upper East Region has set a new benchmark in voter participation, achieving an unprecedented 100% turnout during the Electoral Commission’s (EC) special voting exercise.

All 108 registered special voters cast their ballots, a flawless outcome attributed to the EC’s meticulous planning, operational transparency, and the seamless functionality of the Biometric Verification Devices (BVD).

This rare feat highlights the constituency’s commitment to the democratic process and sets an inspiring precedent.

Across the Upper East Region, voter enthusiasm was equally remarkable, with an overall turnout of 87.36%.

Out of 7,012 registered voters, 6,126 exercised their franchise, reflecting the region’s active participation in the electoral process.

Several constituencies recorded impressive figures, emphasising the success of the EC’s efforts.

Garu led the charge with a turnout of 94.03%, closely followed by Binduri (91.77%) and Bolgatanga East (91.64%).

In Bolgatanga Central, 83.96% of voters participated, while Chiana Paga and Zebilla also saw robust participation, each exceeding 83%.

The EC praised the peaceful atmosphere across all 15 constituencies in the region.

In Builsa North and South, turnout rates stood at 89.42% and 91.14%, respectively, with both areas commended for their calm and orderly voting processes.

Despite the region’s commendable performance, Bawku Central recorded the lowest turnout at 77%.

However, the EC emphasised that the voting process remained peaceful, a significant achievement in a constituency with a history of electoral tension.

The Upper East Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, William Obeng Adarkwa, lauded stakeholders for their cooperation and discipline during the exercise.

Across the region, 3,611 men and 2,515 women participated, further emphasising the inclusivity of the process.

As the nation gears up for the general elections, the Upper East Region’s stellar performance in the special voting exercise offers a glimpse into the potential for a smooth and transparent electoral process nationwide.
