Pictures: Asaase 100.3 Cape Coast goes live

Asaase 100.3 Cape Coast will bring a blend of content that will provoke positive change, entertain, educate and inspire audiences in the Central Region

Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited has on Tuesday (14 June) launched a new station in Cape Coast to serve its audience in the Central Region.

The new radio channel will be broadcasting on 100.3 megahertz on the Frequency Modulation spectrum.

Asaase 100.3 Cape Coast will bring a blend of content that will provoke positive change, entertain, educate and inspire audiences in the Central Region.

The Omanhene of the Ogua traditional area Osabarima Kwesi Atta II graced the occasion, declaring that with the name Asaase, the station has come to stay and “it will possess the land”.

Other dignitaries present at the function were the board chairman of Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, the regional minister Justina Marigold Assan, the MCEs of Cape Coast and Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem, Ernest Arthur and Solomon Ebo Appiah respectively.

Assan called on the station to project the positives of the region.

“You talked about what we did during the farmers’ day, it was so beautiful when Asaase came on board, the interviews that we had, it should tell you that Asaase really wanted to change the narrative I believe,” Assan said.

“Over the years, when you sit back and hear what people say about the Central Region, it is so disheartening, and I believe with Asaase on board, we are going to have the media space, to tell our story, the Central Region story… that beautiful culture that we have in the region,” she said.

“And it is going to change the narrative, the misconception that people have, drag the name of the region into the mud. I have not heard anything negative about Asaase, the thing is that they say it as it is and we need to give them our ultimate support,” the regional minister said.

“We need to create that enabling environment for Asaase to thrive, to challenge young ones coming on board, so that the youth who have pertinent issues to address can have that space to come to Assase willingly to talk about them,… so it is going to give us that competitive space for other media portals to change what they do,” Assan said.

Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited, a private commercial media organisation, owns Asaase 100.3 Cape Coast, Asaase 99.5 Accra, Asaase 98.5 Kumasi and Asaase 99.7 Tamale.
