MTN Ghana spreads Christmas cheer in North East Region

Over 30 festive hampers filled with baby essentials bring joy to new mums in Walewale and Nalerigu as MTN spreads love across Ghana this Christmas

In a heartwarming gesture to mark the festive season, MTN Ghana brought smiles to the faces of new mothers in the North East Region by donating hampers to those who gave birth on Christmas Day.

A total of 30 hampers, brimming with essentials for newborns, were distributed across two hospitals: the Walewale Government Hospital and the Nalerigu Baptist Medical Centre.

Each hamper was thoughtfully curated, containing baby clothing, detergents, toys, blankets, and personal care items, emphasising the company’s commitment to supporting mothers during the festive season.

This act of kindness formed part of MTN Ghana’s 2024 hamper distribution project, a flagship initiative launched in 2011 to spread love and care during Christmas.

Speaking to Asaase News, Salifu Abdallah, MTN North East Territory Sales Controller, described the project as a reflection of the company’s ethos of giving back to the community.

“It is a flagship initiative that embodies the spirit of giving and caring that defines MTN,” Abdallah said.

“This year, 30 health facilities will benefit from this initiative in all [the] 16 regions and today, we have distributed 260 hampers across 17 hospitals in the northern sector to newly born Christmas babies.”

One recipient of the hampers, Abayak Rebecca, who gave birth to twin boys at the Walewale Government Hospital, expressed her heartfelt gratitude.

“We are in trying times in Ghana and as you’ve given us this parcel, it is not a small favour that you’ve done to us, but a great favour done unto me and to my children,” she said. “I say thank you and I appreciate every bit of it.”

Since its inception, MTN Ghana’s hamper distribution project has touched the lives of over 3,500 mothers and their babies nationwide, making Christmas brighter for families across the country.

This year’s initiative highlights MTN Ghana’s enduring commitment to fostering community care and celebrating the joyous milestones of life, even in challenging times.
